[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:110]

[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:263]
7. To be able to enjoy Allah’s tremendous rewards for every sadaqah that we give, we need to observe the following teachings: 1. Sadaqah must be done sincerely for the pleasure of Allah and not out of riya’ (show off) to gain praise or recognition from others:
“O you who believe! Do not render vain your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men and he does not believe in Allah nor in the Last Day.” [Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 264]
8. "And whatever you give for interest to increase within the wealth of people will not increase with Allah. But what you give in zakah, desiring the countenance of Allah – those are the multipliers."
[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:267]
It is better to conceal what we give or do as sadaqah:
9. “And whatever you spend in charity or whatever vow you make, be sure Allah knows it all. But the wrongdoers have no helpers.
[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:270]
10. "If you disclose (acts of) charity, it is well, but if you conceal them and make them reach those (really) in need, that is best for you. It will remove from you some of your (stains of) evil. And Allah is well acquainted with what you do.”
[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:271]
11. “Charity is for those in need, who, in Allah’s cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land, seeking (For trade or work)”

[Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 273]

[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:274]
13. “Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity. For He loves not creatures ungrateful and wicked”
13. “Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity. For He loves not creatures ungrateful and wicked”
[Surat Al-Baqarah 2:276]
14. “Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve”

[Surat Al-e-Imran 3:17]
16. “You will not attain righteousness till you spend in charity of the things you love.”
[Surat Al-e-Imran 3: 92]
15. "The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah ], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn."
[Surat Al-e-Imran 3:17]

[Surat Al-e-Imran 3: 92]
17. "The life of this world is but a play and a passing delight: but if you believe (in God) and are conscious of Him, He will give you your recompense. And withal, He does not demand of you (to sacrifice in His cause all of) your possessions."
[Surat An-Nissa 4:36-38]
18. Indeed, "Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward."
18. Indeed, "Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward."
[Surat An-Nissa 4:40]
19. "No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah – then We are going to give him a great reward."
[Surat An-Nissa 4:114]
20. And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You.” [ Allah ] said, “My punishment – I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things.” So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses.
[Surat al-A’raf 7:156]
21. "Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveller – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise."
[Surat At-Tawbah 9:60]
22. And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah, [saying], “If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous.”
[Surat At-Tawbah 9:75]
23. "Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them to increase, and invoke [ Allah‘s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing."

26. "And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord – It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein."
[Surat Al-Mu’minun 23:60-61]

[Surat ur-Room 30:39]
28. “Only those who believe in Our Signs, who when they are recited to them fall down in adoration, and celebrate the praises of their Rabb (only God and Sustainer), nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride. They forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Rabb (only God and Sustainer), in Fear and Hope. And they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them. Now no person knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden (in reserve) for them — as a reward for their (good) Deeds. Is then the man who believes no better than the man who is rebellious and wicked? Not equal are they. For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable Homes, for their (good) deeds.”
[Surat As-Sajdah 32:15-19]
29. “For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women for devout men and women for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah’s remembrance for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.”
[Surat Al-Ahzab 33:35]
30. "Who is it that will offer up unto God a goodly loan, which He will amply repay? For, such (as do so) shall have a noble reward."
[Surat ul-Hadeed 57:11]
31. "Indeed, the men who practise charity and the women who practise charity and [they who] have loaned Allah a goodly loan – it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward."
[Surat ul-Hadeed 57:18]
32. "O you who have believed, when you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, present before your consultation a charity. That is better for you and purer. But if you find not [the means] – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
[Surat Al-Mujadila 58:12]
33. Not to delay giving of sadaqah nor show lethargy or negligence in giving sadaqah:
And spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you before death should come to any of you and he should say, “O my Rabb (only God and Sustainer)! Why do you not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good.”
[Surat Al-Munafiqun 63:10]
34. "As for he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), and (in all sincerity) testifies to the Best, We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Ease. But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, and gives the lie to the Best (reward), We will indeed make smooth for him the Path of Misery. And what will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). Verily, We take upon Us to guide. And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; none shall burn therein but those most unfortunate ones who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it."
[Surat ul-Lail 92:4-17]
35. Seek only the desire to see Allah, which is the supreme success in Paradise.
Do not expect favour or reward from any person for the sadaqah you give: “Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification and have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, but only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Creator Most High; and soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.”

[Surat ul-Lail 92:18-21]
Hadith On Zakah/Zakat (Charity)
Let us continue to earn the reward of our good deeds from Allah by giving charity, which will continue to benefit others. Let us consider giving charity in support of Islamic projects such as the construction of mosques, Islamic schools, Islamic libraries, orphanages and da'wah centres. If Allah Almighty has blessed us with wealth, then let us not delay in constructing any or all of these Islamic projects for the pleasure of Allah Almighty. If we do this, we will surely be rewarded for doing good deeds even after death. We should be encouraged to give charity from the following Saheeh hadeeth:
Pay the compulsory charity (Zakat):
1. "To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 50, Vol. 1, Book 2, Hadith 48]
Charity is an expiation (of sins):
2. "The afflictions caused for a man by his wife, money, children and neighbour are expiated by his prayers, fasting, charity and by enjoining (what is good) and forbidding (what is evil)."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 525, Vol. 1, Book 10, Hadith 503]
Sadaqah must be from a halal (lawful) source: Sadaqa must be from money earned honestly:
3. “If one gives in charity what equals one date-fruit from the honestly earned money and Allah accepts only the honestly earned money Allah takes it in His Right (hand). And then, enlarges its reward for that person (who has given it), as anyone of you brings up his baby horse, so much so that it becomes as big as a mountain.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1410, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 491]
Not to delay giving of sadaqah nor show lethargy or negligence in giving sadaqah:
4. "To practise charity before such a time when nobody would accept it
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "O people! Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but today I am not in need of it."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1411, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 492]
Protect yourself from Hell-fire even with half a date:
5. “Save yourself from hellfire by giving even half a date fruit in charity.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1417, Volume 2, Hadith 498]
Protect yourself from Hell-fire even with half a date:
6. A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters and did not eat anything herself, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) came in and I informed him about this story. He said, "Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them generously (with benevolence) then these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hell-Fire."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1418, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 499]
What kind of charity is superior?
7. A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Which charity is the most superior in reward?" He replied, "The charity which you practice while you are healthy, niggardly and afraid of poverty and wish to become wealthy. Do not delay it to the time of approaching death and then say, 'Give so much to such and such, and so much to such and such.' And it has already belonged to such and such (as it is too late)."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1419, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 500]
The long hand was a symbol of practising charity:
8. Some of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Who amongst us will be the first to follow you (i.e. die after you)?" He said, "Whoever has the longest hand."
[the long hand was a symbol of practising charity, so Zainab bint Jahsh was the first to follow the Prophet (ﷺ)]
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1420, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 501]
If one gives an object of charity to a wealthy person unknowingly:
9. "A man said that he would give something in charity.
He went out with his object of charity and unknowingly gave it to a thief. The next morning the people said that he had given his object of charity to a thief. (On hearing that) he said, "O Allah! All the praises are for you. I will give alms again."
And so he again went out with his alms and (unknowingly) gave it to an adulteress. The next morning the people said that he had given his alms to an adulteress last night. The man said, "O Allah! All the praises are for you. (I gave my alms) to an adulteress. I will give alms again."
So he went out with his alms again and (unknowingly) gave it to a rich person. (The people) The next morning said that he had given his alms to a wealthy person.
He said, "O Allah! All the praises are for you. (I had given alms) to a thief, to an adulteress and to a wealthy man."
Then someone came and said to him, "The alms which you gave to the thief, might make him abstain from stealing, and that given to the adulteress might make her abstain from illegal sexual intercourse (adultery), and that given to the wealthy man might make him take a lesson from it and spend his wealth which Allah has given him, in Allah's cause."
[Sahih Muslim 1022, Sahih al-Bukhari 1421, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 502]
Protect yourself from Hell-fire even with half a date:

[Sahih Muslim 1022, Sahih al-Bukhari 1421, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 502]
It is better to conceal what we give or do as sadaqah:
10. “Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. They are
1. a just ruler,
2. a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah,
3. a man whose heart is attached to the mosque,
4. two men who love each other for Allah’s sake, meeting for that and parting for that.
5. a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position but he says, “I fear Allah”,
6. a man who gives in charity and hides it, such that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives in charity, and
7. a man who remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears.”
[Sahih Muslim 1031, Sahih al-Bukhari 1423, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 504]
The reward of the lady who gives in charity, from her husband's house:
11. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When a woman gives in charity some of the foodstuff (which she has in her house) without spoiling it, she will receive the reward for what she has spent, and her husband will receive the reward because of his earning, and the storekeeper will also have a reward similar to it. The reward of one will not decrease the reward of the others. "
[Sahih Muslim 1024, Sahih al-Bukhari 1425, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 506]
The wealthy only are required to give to charity:
12. "The best charity is that which is practised by a wealthy person. And start giving first to your dependents."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1426, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 507]
Begin charity with your dependents:
13. “The upper hand is better than the lower hand, (i.e., he who gives charity is better than him who takes it). One should start giving first to his dependents. And the best object of charity is that which is given by a wealthy person (from the money which is left after his expenses.) And whoever abstains from asking others for some financial help, Allah will give him and save him from asking others, Allah will make him self-sufficient.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1427, 1428, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 508]
Whoever loves to give something in charity on the very day (he receives his earnings):
14. "I left at home a piece of gold which was from the charity and I disliked to let it remain a night in my house, so I got it distributed. "
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1430, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 510]
To exhort one to give in charity:
15. "Whenever a beggar came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) or he was asked for something, he used to say (to his companions), "Help and recommend him and you will receive the reward for it, and Allah will bring about what He will through His Prophet's tongue."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1432, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 512]
Do not count the sadaqah you give:
16. "Do not withhold your money by counting it (i.e. hoarding it), (for if you did so), Allah would also withhold His blessings from you."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1433, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 513]
To give to charity as much as you can afford:
17. "Do not shut your money bag; otherwise, Allah too will withhold His blessings from you. Spend (in Allah's Cause) as much as you can afford. "
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1434, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 515]
The servant gets a reward for giving charity when ordered by the owner:
18. "An honest Muslim storekeeper who carries out the orders of his master and pays fully what he has been ordered to give with a good heart and pays to that person to whom he was ordered to pay, is regarded as one of the two charitable persons."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1438, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 519]
Compensation for spending in the way of Allah:
19. “Every day two angels come down from Heaven and one of them says, ‘O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your cause’, and the other (angel) says, ‘O Allah! Destroy every miser.’”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1442, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 522]
The examples of an alms-giver and a miser:
20. “The example of a miser and the one who gives in charity is like the example of two men wearing iron cloaks so tightly that their arms are raised forcibly towards their collar bones. So, whenever a charitable person wants to give in charity, his cloak spreads over his body so much so that it wipes out his traces. But whenever the miser wants to give in charity, the rings (of the iron cloak) come closer to each other and press over his body and his hands get connected to his collar bones. Abu Huraira heard the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) saying, “The miser then tries to widen it but in vain.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1443, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 523]
Individual property should neither be gathered together nor the joint property should be divided:
21. "Neither the property of different people may be taken together nor the joint property may be split for fear of (paying more, or receiving less) Zakat."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1450, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 530]
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1450, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 530]
If a property is equally owned by two partners, its Zakat is to be paid as a whole:
22. "If a property is equally owned by two partners, they should pay the combined Zakat and it will be considered that both of them have paid their Zakat equally."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1451, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 531]
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1451, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 531]
Neither an old, nor a defective animal, nor a male goat may be taken as Zakat:
23. "Neither an old nor a defected animal, nor a male-goat may be taken as Zakat except if the Zakat collector wishes (to take it)."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1455, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 535]
No Zakat on the horse of a Muslim:
24. "There is no Zakat either on a horse or a slave belonging to a Muslim."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1463, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 542]
To whom give zakat:
25. "The poor person is not the one who goes around the people and asks them for a mouthful or two (of meals) or a date or two but the poor is that who has not enough (money) to satisfy his needs and whose condition is not known to others, that others may give him something in charity, and who does not beg of people."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1479, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 557]
Can one buy the thing which he has given in charity?
26. Umar bin Al-Khattab gave a horse in charity for Allah's Cause and later he saw it being sold in the market and intended to purchase it. Then he went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked his permission. The Prophet said, "Do not take back what you have given in charity." For this reason, Ibn `Umar never purchased the things which he had given in charity, and in case he had purchased something (unknowingly) he would give it in charity again.
[Sahih Muslim 1620, Sahih al-Bukhari 1489, Vol. 2, Book 24, Hadith 566]
25. Let us prepare ourselves for the eternal world to come. Let us be among those who will receive Allah's rewards in Paradise (Garden of Blessings or Paradise) by giving charity in many ways.

5. “In the morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification is an act of charity. Every utterance of praise of Him is an act of charity; every utterance of the profession of His Oneness is an act of charity; every utterance of the profession of His Greatness is an act of charity; enjoining good is an act of charity; forbidding what is disreputable is an act of charity, and two rak’ahs which one prays in the forenoon will suffice.”

"They taunt the believers, who give for God's sake more than they are duty-bound to give, as well as those who can find nothing to give except (what they earn through) their hard toil, and they scoff at them. God causes their scoffing to rebound on themselves, and for them is a painful punishment."
[Surat At-Tawbah 9:79]
Those who do not spend out of their wealth for the good of the community and in Allah’s cause, attempt to find fault with those who do give, and they taunt them with accusations that they are only making a show. The hypocrites during the Messenger’s time accused the wealthy believers who donated large amounts of money of insincerity and ostentation, and scoffed at the poor believers who donated modest amounts out of their scanty earnings through their hard toil, saying, “Will the strongholds of Byzantium be destroyed with what those give?” They derided them by making signs with their eyes and eyebrows. This was the reflection of the hypocrisy in their hearts. The attitudes, such as derision, scoffing and taunting, which some display when they see others who have merits that they do not have, demonstrate the hypocrisy in their hearts.
May Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, grant us the opportunity to do many ways of giving charity for His pleasure and reward us with the best life, especially in the Hereafter. Let us spend our life, time, money and efforts or everything within us in doing such deeds which Allah will accept as charity only for His pleasure. Our Lord will save us from miserliness and save us from the fire of Hell. Ameen
