Forgiveness And Revenge

Whoever does not show mercy will not receive mercy. Whoever does not forgive others will not be forgiven. Whoever does not pardon others will not be pardoned. Whoever does not protect others will not be protected. So try to forgive others to receive mercy and forgiveness from ALLAH and others.
We are human and humans make mistakes and commit sins. That is natural, we are the son of Adam we made mistakes. But what is not natural is that sometimes we are getting arrogant, getting shy, and we are not able to accept our mistakes. In such cases, we don’t ask for forgiveness afterwards and try to take revenge.

The Prophet ï·º said:
"Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin is those who repent."
[Tirmidhi, 2499 authentic]

According to this hadith, we all are making sins in different ways. We are expecting forgiveness as soon as possible for us but why not for the other? They are also human like we are. This small thing is very difficult to understand for a person who has an ego and an attitude problem. We should be ready and eager to repent once a sin is committed by others whatever our love once, our colleagues, related to our society, our friends, workers etc.

What Is Revenge?

Revenge is a natural emotion. Revenge is defined as the act of committing a harmful action, a desire for vengeance or retribution, an act or instance of retaliating in order to get even plotted, an opportunity for getting satisfaction against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived.

Is the Revenge Good Thing?

If you are thinking taking revenge is better then why are you asking pardon to ALLAH. when you're having a small cut naturally you are feeling too much pain like you have a got a wound that is not able to heal early. When we are getting any pain naturally that is easy to bear when we are getting hurt by others that are more painful whatever that is the punishment given because of our mistake. We should think about it deeply to stop ourselves to take revenge.

What Activities Done By People To Take Revenge?

There are lots of activities done by people to take revenge. Some are getting in a passive way, some in a talking way and some are getting over and trying to hurt them deeply. Taking revenge isn't a good way. There are some common activities people are doing to take revenge:

i. Getting Revenge Passively:
  • Getting on with your life
  • Ignorance of the person
  • Don't help the person when they need it
  • Blocking the person on social networking

ii. By Taking Action:
  • Killing them with kindness
  • Considering taking legal action
  • Undermine their efforts
  • Showing the other person up
  • By beating them

iii. By Taking Dirty Actions:
  • Embarrassing them publicly
  • Making the decision to sink to their level
  • Freaking them out
  • Spreading an unflattering rumours
  • Sending anonymous letters, phone calls, or texts
  • Sending a disgusting gift

What Are The Bad Effects Of Revenge?

In many cases like friendship, sometimes in between siblings, parents, neighbours we see this worst activity. In friendship when two or more friends have some issues regarding mistakes they are trying to make fun of others and because of this some friends stop going to school. In family, it's a very dangerous disease which spoils the peace of a happy family. We should try to understand each other. Everyone has their own thinking. Everyone is working in their own way. We can compare or expect the same from others, so we should forgive if we want a peaceful life. There are some bad effects:
  • Effects on physical and mental health
  • Spoil relationship
  • Make you selfish
  • Make you keep thinking, How to take revenge?
  • You start ignoring other good works

What Is Forgiveness?

Forgiveness is a critical aspect of Islam as we are Human, sons of Adam not angels we made mistakes. In another way, people who have done wrong are 'to pardon', just as ALLAH will forgive people on the Day of resurrection for things which they have done. Whoever does not show mercy will not receive mercy, Whoever does not pardon others will not be pardoned, Whoever does not forgive others will not be forgiven, and Whoever does not protect others will not be protected. So try to forgive others to receive mercy and forgiveness from ALLAH and make your relationship good with others.

How Many Kinds Of Forgiveness In Islam?

We Muslims believe that no person is perfect, and everyone is capable of wrongdoing and deserves forgiveness. There are two kinds of forgiveness in Islam, ALLAH’s forgiveness and human forgiveness. Both types of forgiveness are important and all of us should seek both ALLAH and human beings.

1. Forgiveness from ALLAH:

Anyone who has committed sin can ask forgiveness directly from Lord, being human we make mistakes and commit sins, we need to recognize the mistake or sin, improve it and seek forgiveness from ALLAH. There is no one between ALLAH and us (the one who is asking forgiveness). ALLAH is Most Merciful he forgives us once we repent by heart. In the QURAN, ALLAH mentioned many times that he is "A most merciful".

"ALLAH loves those who turn unto Him in repentance, and He loves those who keep themselves pure."
[Surah Al-Bakarah 2:222]

O you! "who have believed, indeed, among your spouses and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But ... if you pardon and overlook and forgive - then indeed, ALLAH is Forgiving and Merciful."
[Surah Taghabunn 64:14]

2. Forgiveness from Human Beings:

Sometimes we made mistakes and because of our mistakes our loved ones, friend, family members and others get hurt. So we need to realize and ask for forgiveness before asking forgiveness from ALLAH. We are Muslim and our religion Islam teaches us to be forgiving and if someone sincerely asks for forgiveness, the wronged person should forgive him.

The Prophet ï·º said:
"Whoever suffers an injury and forgives (the person responsible), God will raise his status to a higher degree and remove one of his sins."
[Al-Tirmidhi: 998]

What Is The Most Beloved Deed To ALLAH?

The most beloved people to ALLAH are those who are most beneficial to the people. The most beloved deed to ALLAH is to make a Muslim happy, to remove one of his troubles, or forgive his debt, or feed his hunger. Whoever swallows his anger, then ALLAH will conceal his faults. Whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could fulfil his anger if he wished, then ALLAH will secure his heart on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever walks with his brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, then ALLAH the Exalted will make his footing firm across the bridge on the day when the footings are shaken.

The Prophet ï·º said:
"The strong are not the best wrestlers. Verily, the strong are only those who control themselves when they are angry."
[Sahih Bukhari: 5763]

"Lurking towards you are the diseases of the nations before you. Envy and hatred are the razor. I do not say it shaves hair, but rather it shaves the religion. By the one in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you have faith and you will not have faith until you love each other. Shall I tell you what can affirm that for you? Spread peace between yourselves."
[Musnad Aḥmad: 1415]

"Be devout and you will be the most pious of people. Be content and you will be the most grateful of people. Love for people what you love for yourself and you will be a believer. Behave well with your neighbors and you will be a Muslim. Laugh less, for too much laughter will deaden the heart."
[Sunan Ibn Majah: 4217]

When someone hurt us we are getting angry, sometimes our anger converts into rage, but we're forgetting that ALLAH doesn't like them who have no control over their anger. He loves the people who control their anger. he likes the deed that makes others happy. He likes forgiveness, good behaviour with family, friends, neighbours etc. He likes peace between us. If we are true believers we need to be patient, control on our anger, kindness, and love others.

What Does The Quran Say About Forgiveness?

In QURAN "forgiveness" and "mercy" are mentioned roughly around 100 and 200 times respectively. Surah Rahman is an entire surah of the QURAN devoted to the quality of mercy. ALLAH has the most two common names Al-Rahman and Al-Rahim that are used by most the Muslims in the world. Al-Rahman mentioned 57 times in QURAN while Al-Rahim was 115 times. We know that ALLAH is the Most Merciful, and He forgives those who ask forgiveness with repentance. There are three different words used by the QURAN for forgiveness.  Al-Ghafur, Al-Ghaffar and Al-Ghafir these three names occur in the QURAN 98 times.

1. Al-Ghafur:

Al-Ghafoor points to the extent of His forgiveness, mentioned more than 70 times in QURAN. Al-Ghafir means the Forgiving, most forgiving, oft-forgiving, forgives the big and the small, the first and the last and the apparent and hidden. Which is derived from the root "gha-fa-ra" which points to three main meanings:

  • To cover, veil, conceal, and hide
  • To pardon, to forgive, and to set aright
  • To cover a thing to protect it (from dirt)

"... So forgive us and have mercy on us; You are the best of those who forgive."
[Surah Al-Aeyraf 7:155]

"Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful"
[Surah Hijir 15:49]

"... surely ALLAH forgives the faults all of them; surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful"
[Surah Zumar 39:53]
You can also see Surah Kahaf 18: 58; Surah Al-Burooj 85: 14.

2. Al-Ghaffar:

Al-Ghaffar, which refers to the fact that ALLAH forgives repeatedly (the quantity) means the Forgiver, the repeatedly forgiving, absolute forgiver, pardner, condoner (the one who is ready to pardon and forgive), The One who forgives the sins of His slaves time and time again.

And said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver."
[Surah Nooh 71:10]

"Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver."
[Surah Suaad 38:66]

"But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance."
[Surah Taha 20:82]

You can also see Surah Al-Momin 40:42; Surah Zumar 39:5

3. Al-Ghafir:

Al-Ghafir means The Forgiving One, The Believer, Forgiving, Which is derived from the root gh-f-r. The basic meaning of the root is "to cover, to protect, to shield", besides "to forgive" while the names Al-Ghafur and Al-Ghaffar are more emphatic, indicating that ALLAH is most forgiving, and frequently forgiving.

"The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the Final Return."
[Surah Al-Momin 40:3]

We are given the greatest motivation to push ourselves to forgive others that is ALLAH’s forgiveness. Whoever forgives others from the heart then ALLAH will give him a reward, and we know ALLAH’s rewards are the best of all. There are many Ayahs in the QURAN related to forgiveness we will discuss below:

"… ALLAH forgives what is past: for repetition Allah will exact from him the penalty. For Allah is Exalted, and Lord of Retribution."
[Surah Al-Maidah 5:95]

"That [is so]. And whoever responds [to injustice] with the equivalent of that with which he was harmed and then is tyrannized – ALLAH will surely aid him. Indeed, ALLAH is Pardoning and Forgiving."
[Surah Al-Hajj 22:60]

"And let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that ALLAH should forgive you? And ALLAH is Forgiving and Merciful."
[Surah Noor 24:22]

"The reward of the evil is the evil thereof, but whosoever forgives and makes amends, his reward is upon God."
[Surah As-Shooraa 42:40]

"Whosoever desires honor, power, and glory then to ALLAH belong all honor, power, and glory [and one can get honor, power, and glory only by worshiping ALLAH (Alone)]. To Him ascend (all) the goodly words i.e. and the righteous deeds exalt it (the goodly words i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by ALLAH unless and until they are followed by good deeds), but those who plot evils, -theirs will be a severe torment. And the plotting of such will perish.
[Surah Faatir 35:10]

After knowing about these ayahs, we can say that ALLAH is all forgiving and pardoning, we should seek forgiveness from Him and try to forgive others too. ALLAH is great. Whosoever desires honour, power, and glory then to ALLAH belong all honour, power, and glory.

What Does The Prophet ï·º Say About Forgiveness?

The Prophet Muhammad ï·º is a forgiver. He ï·º is the ultimate role model to Muslims. He taught us how we should live our life. Prophet Muhammad ï·º has many qualities, One of the qualities of our Prophet ï·º is forgiveness. He ï·º forgives others and shows kindness to even those who were so rude to Him. Many examples of Muhammad’s practise of forgiveness can be found in the Hadith, as follows:

Narrated Hazrat Ayesha رضي الله عنه
"The Prophet ï·º was not indecent, he was not obscene, he would not shout in the markets, and he would not respond to an evil deed with an evil deed, but rather he would pardon and overlook."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2016 Authentic]

The Messenger of ALLAH ï·º said:
"O ALLAH, You are forgiving and generous. You love to forgive."

Ata ibn Yasar رضي الله عنه reported:
I met Abdullah ibn Amr رضي الله عنه and I said,
"Tell me about the description of the Messenger of ALLAH ï·º in the Torah.”
Abdullah رضي الله عنه said:
By ALLAH, he is described in the Torah with some of what is mention in the QURAN:
"O Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bringer of glad tidings, and to give warning, (33:45) and to guard over the illiterate, for you are My servant and messenger. I have called you a trustworthy man who is neither rude nor loud in the markets, nor does he return evil with evil, but rather he pardons and forgives."
[Sahih Bukhari: 2018]

The Prophet (SAW) said:
"O people! Ask for the forgiveness of ALLAH and repent to Him as I ask for the forgiveness of ALLAH and repent to Him one hundred times a day."

"Be merciful to others, and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and ALLAH will forgive you” [Musnad Ahmad: 7001]

Abu Abdullah Al-Khadali reported: I asked Aisha about the character of the Messenger of ALLAH ï·º. Aisha said:

"The Prophet ï·º was not indecent, he was not obscene, he would not shout in the markets, and he would not respond to an evil deed with an evil deed, but rather he would pardon and overlook."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2016]

"I swear by ALLAH that I seek ALLAH’s Pardon and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day."
[Sahih Bukhari: 6307]

The Messenger of ALLAH ï·º said:
Our lord, the blessed, the superior, comes every night down on the nearest heaven to us when the last third of the night remains,
Saying (ALLAH):
Is there anyone beseeching me, so I can give?
Are any seeking my forgiveness, so I can forgive them?
Are there any penitent people for me to pardon?
Is anyone calling to me so I can answer?
[Sahih al-Bukhari: 1145; Sahih Muslim 758]

Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنه reported:
A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said,
"O Messenger of ALLAH, how many times should I pardon my servant?"
The Messenger of ALLAH ï·º said: Seventy times in each day.
[Sunan At-Tirmidhi: 1949 Authentic]

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
"I never saw a case involving legal retaliation being referred to the Messenger of ALLAH ï·º except that he would recommend pardoning the criminal."
[Sunan Abu Dawood: 4497 Authentic]

These are some examples from the life of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º. From these examples, we can know that Our beloved Prophet ï·º was so kind and forgiving to all no matter whether he is a believer or non-believer. If we forgive others, ALLAH will also forgive us so try to be kind to others and forgive, so we can get kindness, love, and forgiveness from ALLAH.

Why Is Forgiveness Important?

Forgiving is one of ALLAH's qualities. In QURAN ALLAH strongly recommends forgiveness because ALLAH likes those who forgive others. ALLAH is Ghafur-ur-Raheem as he promised in the QURAN that He will forgive everyone who repents for his sins and mistake by heart. How many times have QURAN and Hadith talked about the importance of forgiveness in Islam. We are children of Adam, it's obvious often we make mistakes, and we should ask for pardon as soon as possible. If you have sins piling up to the clouds and then ask ALLAH forgiveness, He will forgive you without any reservation.

"O child of Adam! However much you beseech Me and place your hopes in Me, I will forgive you without any reservation.
O child of Adam! If you have sins piling up to the clouds and then ask My forgiveness, I will forgive you without any reservation.
O child of Adam! If you come to me with enough mistakes to fill the Earth, and meet Me without associating anything as a partner with Me, I will come to you with enough forgiveness to fill the Earth."
[Sahih Muslim: 2687]

ALLAH values forgiveness. Forgiveness is an encouraging act with the promise of reward from ALLAH. In Islam revenge is also allowed if you are capable to take but ALLAH likes forgiveness. Forgiveness is very important in Islam. The importance of the forgiveness in Islam is as follows:

1. Forgive To Be Forgiven:

If we expect forgiveness from ALLAH then we also have the ability to forgive others. How can we expect ALLAH to forgive us, while we are not even willing to forgive others? When we think of forgiveness we mostly think of ALLAH’s forgiveness, and we forget how important it is that we also forgive others. We need to be forgiven as well as forgive to make a good relationship with both ALLAH and our love once.

"Be merciful to others, and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and ALLAH will forgive you."
[Musnad Ahmad: 7001]

2. Forgiveness Brings Peace:

If you want to be a peaceful life you need to learn how fast we should forgive each other. ALLAH likes them who forgive others as fast as possible. The Prophet ﷺ and ALLAH warn us to live in peace and goodness. Forgiveness is a good way to get peace. We need to make our hearts bigger than others then there will be no war, chaos, or fight except peace. Uqbah ibn Amir رضي الله عنه reported:

The Prophet Muhammad ï·º said, "O Uqbah, reconcile whoever cuts you off, give to whoever deprives you, and pardon whoever wrongs you."
[Musnad Ahmad: 16999 Authentic]

3. Forgiveness Is A Charity:

ALLAH loves those who spend charity. forgiveness is also a form of charity. If you want to be loved by ALLAH you need to forgive others before asking forgiveness.

"The believers are those who spend in charity during ease and hardship and who restrain their anger and pardon the people, for ALLAH loves the doers of good."
[Surah Al Imran 3:134]

4. Forgiveness Is An Honor To Prophet Muhammad ï·º:

Forgiveness is an honour to Prophet Muhammad ï·º because he always forgives everyone, including the one who did him wrong. He never took revenge, return evil with evil, anger with anger, instead, he forgives them. Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported:

"I saw The Prophet Muhammad ï·º, tell the story of a prophet who was beaten by his people and he wiped the blood from his face, saying: My Lord, forgive my people for they do not know."
[Sahih Bukhari: 6530]

5. Importance Of Forgiveness Pass Safely Over Hell:

Our journey to the Hereafter is full of difficulties and tests. We all believers will be questioned the bridge that lies between heaven and hell for the injustices done among them in the world. If you want to pass that bridge without any question forgive them. Forgiveness is our way to prove who we are and this process includes injustice being done to us. As reported by Abu Sa’id Al Khudri:

"When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge (the siraat) between Hell and Paradise where they will retaliate against one another for the injustices done among them in the world, and when they are purified of all their sins, they will be admitted to Paradise. By Him in Whose hands the life of Muhammad is, everybody will recognize his dwelling in Paradise better than he recognizes his dwelling in this world."
[Sahih Bukhari: 2440]

6. Forgiveness Is A Good Behavior:

Muslims should possess good behaviours that Prophet ï·º shows and teach us. The Prophet ï·º emphasized the importance of forgiveness in Islam. Abu Ayyub Ansari reported,

"It is not permissible for a man to forsake his Muslim brother for more than three days, each of them turning away from the other when they meet. The best of them is the one who gives the greeting of salaam first."
[Sahih Bukhaari: 5727; Sahih Muslim: 2560]

7. Guarantee Of Jannah:

Sometimes it's very difficult to hold up pain and forgive someone but ALLAH's promise makes everything easy. ALLAH promised that he will reward them with a house in Jannah that forgive others.

"I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a home in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners."
[Tirmidhi: 1993]

8. Forgiveness Lightens The Heart:

Science proved that forgiveness will lighten the heart of the forgiver and the one who asked for it and American scientists recently discovered that stress-related backache, insomnia and stomachaches were significantly reduced among individuals who had the habit of forgiving others. Forgiveness is good for health as well as it's a good source of reward from ALLAH.

"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant."
[Surah Al-A’raf 7:199]

9. Forgiveness Is An Honor:

Forgiveness is one of the best things which make us honourable, it also brings us to paradise. ALLAH likes forgiveness and this is the sign of strength, kind-hearted and peaceful life.

"Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives except that ALLAH increases his honour, and no one humbles himself for the sake of ALLAH except that ALLAH raises his status."
[Sahih Muslim: 2588]

10. ALLAH Is Waiting For Us To Apologize:

If ALLAH were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving creature on the surface of the earth. No matter how many sins and mistake we have done, ALLAH never judges our worshiper quickly. Allah is patiently waiting for his forgiveness.

"And if ALLAH was to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed ALLAH has ever been, of His servants, Seeing."
[Surah Fatir 35:45]

11. Forgiveness Is Proof Of Faith:

Every Muslim have faith in ALLAH and worships Him until the end of their life and because of strong faith, They forgive those who treat them with injustice. They do not hold any ill feelings about anyone in their hearts. We can not show faith by action nor by words, but forgiveness is proof of strong faith.

"The believers are those who spend in charity during ease and hardship and who restrain their anger and pardon the people, for ALLAH loves the doers of good."
[Surah Ali Imran 3:134]

12. Forgiveness Removes The Burden Of Sins:

ALLAH is merciful and gives the chance to a human beings to repent for their sins as long as they are still alive, with the guarantee of forgiveness. All the sins that a human committed during their life should be accounted for in the Day of Judgement. Forgiveness is the best thing to remove the burden of sin and get the love from ALLAH. Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported:

A man came to the Messenger of ALLAH ï·º, with the killer of his relative.
The Prophet ï·º said: Pardon him. But the man refused.
The Prophet ï·º said: Take the blood money. But the man refused.
The Prophet ï·º said: Go and kill him, for you are like him.
So the man let him go.
[Sunan An-Nasa’i 4730 Authentic]

13. Forgiveness Means ALLAH’s Love:

If we truly want ALLAH’s love and forgiveness we must remember that the world is temporary and the pain given by people is also temporary. Forgiveness is really important because one forgives to earn forgiveness from ALLAH.

"Let them pardon and overlook. Would you not love for ALLAH to forgive you? ALLAH is Forgiving and Merciful."
[Surah An-Noor 24:22]

14. Forgiveness Is The Matters Of Steadfast Determination:

There are many ways to describe steadfastness. doing what is in favor of ALLAH and staying away from things that He doesn’t like are ways of steadfast. Whoever bears the insult with patience conceals the evil action that would truly be from the things recommended by ALLAH. ALLAH wished His servants to possess the quality of forgiveness.

"Whoever is patient and forgives, verily, that is among the matters of steadfast determination."
[Surah As-Shoora 42:43]

15. Forgive To Turn Away From The Ignorant:

The good deed and the evil deed or bad deed cannot be equal. ALLAH commands us to forgive those who wronged you, give to those who deprived you, and keep relations with those who cut theirs with you. Even if our sins is as much as the foam in the sea, ALLAH will forgive us anytime we asked so human doesn’t have any reason not to forgive each other.

"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant."
[Surah Al A’raf 7:199]

There is much more importance of forgiveness. ALLAH knows forgiving someone who hurt us is very hard, but remember that ALLAH did the same way to us. would you like ALLAH to do the same with you? Other than that, by forgiving we are suppressing our ego and feeding our heart with good things that bring us toward good deed and the afterlife we will enter in paradise without facing any trouble. Make your heart bigger.

When we forgive those who make us suffer, we feel our hearts lighten and the pleasure of ALLAH.

"O ALLAH, guide me among those whom You have guided, pardon me among those whom You have pardoned, turn to me in friendship among those on whom You have turned in friendship, and bless me in what You have bestowed, and save me from the evil of what You have decreed and nothing is decreed for Thee. 12. Protection From Fitnah And afflictions:

Forgiveness saves us from Fitnah and afflictions. Forgiveness is a good deed which we need to protect from evilness. Forgiveness makes our faith stronger.

"Hasten to do good deeds before there emerges fitnah like a piece of black night when a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever in the evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a disbeliever in the morning, and he will sell his religion for worldly gain."
[Sahih Muslim: 118]

13. For Paradise:

You will surely be forgiven and will certainly be admitted to Paradise, but If you offer true repentance, it may well be that Allah will treat you kindly. He will not allow the reward of their good deeds to go to waste.

"O you who believe! Turn to ALLAH with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will expiate from you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) the Day that ALLAH will not disgrace the Prophet (Muhammad) and those who believe with him. Their Light will run forward before them and (with their Records and Books of deeds) in their right hands. They will say: ‘Our Lord! Keep perfect our Light for us [and do not put it off till we cross over the Siraat (a slippery bridge over the Hell) safely] and grant us forgiveness. Verily, You are able to do all things."
[Surah Al-Tahreem 66: 8]

14. For A Great Reward:

Hypocrites don’t show their disbelief and appear as if they were believers. They are worse than disbelievers. But still, ALLAH gave them the chance to repent and do the righteous deed. ALLAH will reward all the believers who have faith.

"Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depth (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. Except those who repent (from hypocrisy), do righteous good deeds, hold fast to ALLAH, and purify their religion for ALLAH (by worshipping none but ALLAH, and do good for ALLAH’s sake only, not to show off), then they will be with the believers. And ALLAH will grant the believers a great reward."
[Surah al-Nisa 4: 145-146]

15. Forgive To Be Forgiven:

When we think of forgiveness we mostly think of ALLAH’s forgiveness, and we forget how important it is that we also forgive others. We need to be forgiven as well as forgive to make a good relationship with both ALLAH and our love once.

"Be merciful to others, and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and ALLAH will forgive you."
[Musnad Ahmad: 7001]

We are asking for forgiveness our intention should be not to repeat the same sin again. If we are repeating that means we didn't repent from the heart. If we are forgiving someone, we should not keep any bad thing for them in our hearts. ALLAH is Merciful and forgiving so forgive others to be forgiven. If you want righteous kids, lawful money and expanded sustenance then they should ask forgiveness from ALLAH.

How to Forgive Someone?

When someone hurts us it's difficult to forget and forgive. When this thing happens in close relation that is very painful and not acceptable. We keep thinking about that. because of that, we are crying a lot, getting ill or some people think about revenge. In such cases we are planning to insult, embarrass them publicly, making the decision to sink to their level, Freak them out, spread unflattering rumours etc, but The believer does not insult others, does not curse others, is not vulgar, and is not shameless. We can avoid our negative thoughts and forgive the one who hurts us if we think about these things:

1. Think About Their Good Works:

When someone hurt us we focus on that, but we can avoid it by thinking about their good works and what they did for us or others. Most the people are doing as well as bad if we only think about the bad behaviour we can never forgive them by heart.

The Prophet ï·º said:
"The believer does not insult others, does not curse others, is not vulgar, and is not shameless."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 1977 Authentic]

2. Keep Yourself On Their Place:

We are human, we say, I can feel your pain, I can understand you but in difficulties, no one can feel our pain and understand our feeling. We should think it may be this happened because of any mistake or misunderstanding. We should think about them after putting in our own place. Suppose we were there, we did that, why we did it, what was the situation? These some questions help us to calm down.

"Be devout, and you will be the most pious of people. Be content, and you will be the most grateful of people. Love for people what you love for yourself, and you will be a believer. Behave well with your neighbours, and you will be a Muslim. Laugh less, for too much laughter, will deaden the heart."
[Sunan Ibn Majah: 4217]

"Verily, ALLAH does not look at your appearance or wealth, but rather he looks at your hearts and actions."
[Sahih Muslim: 2564]

3. Think Human Makes Mistake:

We all are human. All human being makes mistakes only ways are different. We should think today they made mistakes maybe tomorrow we can. If we do not forgive others then how can we expect to be forgiven. ALLAH will also not forgive us until we do not forgive others. This is a way to forgive and leave everything behind and reconcile our relationship.

"Every son of Adam sins and the best of those who sin is those who repent."
[Tirmidhi, 2499 authentic]

4. Think About Forgiveness Of ALLAH:

When we think of forgiveness we mostly think of ALLAH’s forgiveness, and we forget how important it is that we also forgive others. We need to be forgiven as well as forgive to make a good relationship with both ALLAH and our love once.

"The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 1924]

5. Think About Heaven:

Thinking about heaven is also a way to remove all negative thing that arises in the heart. We will not enter Paradise until we have faith and for faith, we need to love each other. ALLAH loves those who love others.

"Lurking towards you are the diseases of the nations before you. Envy and hatred are the razors. I do not say it shaves hair, but rather it shaves the religion. By the one in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you have faith, and you will not have faith until you love each other. Shall I tell you what can affirm that for you? Spread peace between yourselves."
[Musnad Aḥmad: 1415]

6. Think The Prophets Are Tested The Most:

ALLAH tested them whom he loves most. We should say thanks to him, he loves us most. test means not only by hunger it may be by any means. We should keep patient on such days. Most people are getting disappointed and doing evil, but we should think positively and let things be normal then we can understand the purpose of getting hurt by human.

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas said:
I said: "O Messenger of ALLAH ï·º, which of the people are most sorely tested?"
He said: "The Prophets ï·º, then the next best and the next best. A man will be tested in accordance with his level of religious commitment. If his religious commitment is strong, he will be tested more severely, and if his religious commitment is weak, he will be tested in accordance with his religious commitment. Calamity will keep befalling a person until he walks on the earth with no sin on him."
[Sahih at-Tirmidhi: 2398]

7. Don't Think Again And Again About That Topic:

Our thinking makes us strong as well as weak. It depend on us what we are thinking. if thought is good we feel fresh but if thought is not good we feel worst. So we should not think about the topic that makes us hurt.

The Messenger of ALLAH ï·º said:
"Shall I not tell you of what is better in degree than extra fasting, prayer, and charity?"
They said, “Of course!”
The Prophet said: "Reconciliation between people. Verily, corrupted relations between people are the razor."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2509]

8. Don't Sleep Without Forgive:

We should not sleep without forgiving those who hurt us nor without asking forgiveness from ALLAH. ALLAH will forgive us when we forgive others, so we should first forgive others then ask forgiveness. ALLAH is merciful he loves forgiveness.

"By ALLAH, I seek forgiveness from Allah and I repent to him more than seventy times in a day."
[Sahih Bukhari: 5948]

9. Think About Your Kindness:

ALLAH loves kindness, and he is kind to everyone in fact he is waiting for our forgiveness, he never gives a burden to a soul more than capacity.

"Verily, the most complete of believers in faith are those with the best character and who are most kind to their families."
[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2612]

"Verily, ALLAH is kind and he loves kindness. He rewards for kindness what is not granted for harshness, and he does not reward anything else like it."
[Sahih Muslim: 2593]

"ALLAH does not change the condition of a people unless they change what is in themselves"
[Surah Raad: 13:11]

10. Think Ever You Did Mistake:

Mostly we are thinking about other's mistakes. We are human and every human being makes mistakes, whenever someone hurts you, think they are also human being. Just as we make mistakes unknowingly others too. We should say thanks to ALLAH for everything as well as to human beings. ALLAH doesn't like the one who is not thankful for others.

"He has not thanked ALLAH who has not thanked people."
[Sunan Abu Dawood: 4811]

"The strong are not the best wrestlers. Verily, the strong are only those who control themselves when they are angry."
[Sahih Bukhari: 5763]

11. Think About Hardship:

In difficult times to think, We don't know what is good or bad for us. Only ALLAH knows which thing makes us strong or weak. Maybe ALLAH planned to make us strong through that hardship. He is testing us by that pain. We should be inpatient in every situation.

"You may dislike something, although it is good for you, or like something, although it is bad for you"
[Surah Al-Bakarah 2:216]

12. Talk With Patient To The One Who Hurt You:

In anger, we are getting too rude to the one who hurt us, but we should be patients in every condition. ALLAH love those who have a patient. We should forgive as fast as we are asking forgiveness to ALLAH. We need to finish that matter and back to our relationship.

"ALLAH loves those who are steadfast."
[Surah Ali Imran 3:146]

13. Think ALLAH Is Testing:

Paradise is not so cheap. We will have to undergo hardships for ALLAH's sake, suffer losses of life and property, and face dangers, misfortunes and difficulties. We will be tried both with fear and with greed. Not only that, but we will have to learn to sacrifice everything that is for Our pleasure, and bear every discomfort in Our way.

"Do people think they will be left alone after saying ‘We believe’ without being put to the test?"
[Surah Ankaboot 29:2]

14. Think ALLAH Doesn't Give Pain:

ALLAH does not ask a soul what is beyond its ability. ALLAH is kind and merciful. This only demonstrates ALLAH’s compassion and generosity towards His creation. He gives pain to others because he knows how much pain can we bear or need to change ourselves or to make strong.

"ALLAH does not burden any soul with more than it can bear."
[Surah Al-Bakarah 2:286]

15. Think If ALLAH Desires Good For Someone He Faces Hardship:

Hardship makes us strong mentally and this is also given by ALLAH through his creatures or by any other means. Hurting by someone is also a hardship or a test of your patience. We should bear this pain to become strong.

Prophet Muhammad ï·º said:
"When ALLAH desires good for someone, He tries him with hardships."
[Sahih Bukhari: 5321]

Conclusion

We should show our good behaviour when others are rude to us. We are Muslim if we will be rude or show misbehaviour then how can a non-Muslim know that Islam is a religion of peace and teaches us to be good to others. A beautiful hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslim tells that it is not allowed to be in an argument and keep away from another Muslim for more than three days.

"It is not permissible for a man to forsake his Muslim brother for more than three days, each of them turning away from the other when they meet. The best of them is the one who gives the greeting of salaam first."
[Sahih Bukhaari: 5727; Sahih Muslim: 2560]

Kind Speech and Forgiveness are better than Charity. ALLAH does not stand in need of anybody's charity, for He is Self-Sufficient. He likes those people who are generous and large-hearted but doesn't like frivolous and narrow-minded people, for He Himself is Generous, Clement and Forbearing

"A kind and courteous word and forgiveness are (much) better than the charity that is followed by (such an emotional) abuse. ALLAH is free of all wants and the most forbearing."
[Surah Bakarah 2:263]

When all the believers pass over Sirat (the bridge over the Fire), those who still owe rights to other believers will be held in a place between Jannah and Hell and denied access to Jannah until retribution is carried out. The wronged shall be credited with excellent deeds which will be taken from the wrong doers. After the accounts are settled and the wrong doers are cleared from all liabilities, they will be admitted into Jannah. If you want to pass that bridge without any question forgive them. Forgiveness is our way to prove who we are and this process includes injustice being done to us.

"When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge in between Hell and Paradise where they will retaliate upon each other for the injustices done among them in the world, and when they get purified of all their sins, they will be admitted into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hands the life of Muhammad is everybody will recognize his dwelling in Paradise better than he recognizes his dwelling in this world."
[Sahih Bukhari: 2440]

Repentance is indeed a blessing from ALLAH. AlhamduLILLAH for this blessing and all His blessings. May ALLAH give us all the ability to ask forgiveness and to forgive others for the wrong they do to us and make us more productive Muslims through this and may ALLAH forgive us all for our sins.
Aameen...
